A magnificent Cornish romantic wedding venue!

Here in the gorgeous South West we are not short of a FABULOUS wedding venue or twenty!

All sizes of wedding venue are available – great and small – from the more intimate of spaces to the huge sprawling country house pile – and of both, the bride and the groom to be are spoiled for choice.

pic/ the enigmatic romantic hideaway that is Scorrier House!

For the couple getting married in need of a large wedding venue with the WOW factor on the Downton Abbey spectrum, we present to you eighteenth century Scorrier House in the county of Cornwall – Cornwall’s most romantic wedding venue.

As jobbing Yellowbooth photoboothers for many busy years, we have been booked at Scorrier House on several occasions – each time was UNIQUE because the wedding was unique!

pic/ our stylish black photo booth as booked at Scorrier House.

On the first occasion, it was a lovely sunny day and one of our photo booths was hired for a wedding reception at the house, the wedding breakfast took place at the adjacent marquee and the main hall was the place to be in the evening! The stylish black photobooth was booked and set up to the left of the main hall with Australian themed props. The guests all seemed to enjoy watching our viewing screen and were kept entertained all evening long – purely just enjoying watching the fun that the other guests were getting up to. End of the evening a pizza van appeared! It was very popular!!

On another occasion we found ourselves returning to Scorrier House, with everything from the wedding breakfast to the evening reception happening in the central space of the magnificent main hall. We set up the photo booth in the same corner as last time. This time we found we were slightly short on space but made sure everyone enjoyed having a photo or two for the couple’s guestbook.

The next time we were booked, we tried setting up in the entrance way of the Scorrier House – just outside of the main party room but an ideal location for catching passers by. Due to lack of space, we were game to try an alternative spot – and it worked a treat! The family and friends loved the vw camper photo booth and loved the hospitality of Scorrier House!

About the house … it really is an amazing find and situated within 400 acres of park land toward the western end of Cornwall. Easy location for popping across to the beach at Porthowan – just 3 miles away with other popular spots like the Minack Theatre, the Eden Project and Falmouth a short journey away.

The history of the house is fascinating and begin its days as the home of the mining tycoon John William’s home from 1780. It has remained a Williams family home 5 generations on with Richard and Caroline living on the estate. The couple have 15 years experience in the wedding game and are there to help make your wedding day run smoothly. I met Caroline and she’s a lovely lady.

To help share the atmosphere of Scorrier House post as well as pre your wedding, there is enough room for around 20 guests both at the house and at Stable house on the grounds.

Your wedding ceremony can either take place in the Main Hall with those famous stairs or outside in the sunshine. The house provides the perfect backdrop and blank canvas onto which to base your ideas and inspiration upon.

Scorrier House is one of the most impressive wedding venues that Cornwall has to offer and is definitely one that the family at Downton Abbey would spend their weekend away in any day of the week!

If you are interested in Scorrier House for your wedding and would love to have a look round – I have added several links to their website. Huntsham Court – for an intimate but MAGNIFICENT wedding!

For the bride & groom who’d LOVE to HOST a Downton Abbey style wedding in grand surroundings but on a more intimate level, Huntsham Court puts the dream into reality.

If you would love the style and comfort of a a sprawling pile but prefer the cozy intimacy of a country house, then LOOK NO FURTHER than the inimitable Huntsham Court in Tiverton near Exeter in Devon.

Close to Exeter and only a 2 hour train ride from London, Huntsham is a large and very comfortable mansion house set in 5 acres of gardens. To top that, it is a magnificent Grade II listed building that dates back to the mid nineteenth century.

When you visit, you can’t help but imagine the many visitors to the house over the years and not to mention the lovely weddings that have taken place here too. The house has featured in a lot of people’s stories over the years – lords and ladies, grooms and brides, rock stars and the cast from Made in Chelsea. Could it be the setting for your wedding too?

Huntsham Court – Through the eyes of a visiting Photo booth company….

Our photo booths have been popular at Huntsham Court for several years and have returned to weddings on a number of occasions in all of the seasons and we have experienced those later atmospheric hours of our weddings. The bits of the day that can only be planned to some extent.

It’s like teaching a child to ride a bike, you can hold on to stop them falling but at some stage, you have to let them go. A party has a life of its own but with the right entertainment with the right people the party will be a success. 🙂

We arrive when the party gets started and help to get all the guests in the mood for a good night with some fun in the photo booth and carry on up towards the chimes of midnight.

But the wedding that stands out in my mind is the year of a delicious winter wedding at Huntsham Court… there were tears and laughs and it went something like this….

“We (our company Yellowbooth) were due to turn on the photo booth at 7pm and so arrived at Huntsham at the usual one hour early time of 6pm.

There was a crisp frost on the ground when we arrived and we’d had snow fairly recently so the ground was white and made that crunchy noise. Arriving at the house we instantly felt Christmassy and in the mood for a glass of warm mulled wine!

There were big glowing L.O.V.E letters that greeted us on our arrival during that chilly dark evening. Well, L.O.V letters to be exact as the E had toppled over. Perhaps a wild bunny had knocked it. We popped it back up to look exactly as it should.

Then we opened the big wooden front door – to find as well as the lively party noises that welcomed us, the warmth of the house overcame us like a big cozy cuddle. Honestly we felt like we’d come home and I think that’s what we all want our guests to feel. Huntsham Court delivered that, well and truly on that winter’s evening in that particular new year! More about our experiences at Huntsham later on.”

But is the house big enough for your Wedding party?

Well, the house sleeps 92 with 40 lovely comfy rooms up for grabs for your guests.

Huntsham Court hire out the venue for a 2 day wedding which makes for ample time for everyone to settle in, catch up with each other and enjoy a wedding – before, during and after! Ideal.

I loved the fact that upon further investigation that you can hire Huntsham Court ‘dry’ and bring in your own caterers as well as cater for the breakfast and main meal needs and drinks of your guests yourselves if you so wish. Alternatively, use their caterers.

The team at the venue are happy to assist you with the structuring of a 2 day event. Sometimes it’s tricky to know when to start but once you get started you can’t stop! Here’s the link to some very helpful planning hints here.

And most importantly, there is an incredible choice of where you would like your wedding ceremony to take place. Amidst the Jacobean panelling in the main hall, outside under a marquee or at the stunning All Saints Church a stiff walk away from the main house.Spoiled for choice so that you can have the perfect day to suit you both.

pic/ green screen with sepia for that TIMELESS quality to the photos

“Going back to this lovely winter wedding we took our black photo booth along to at Huntsham… as well as plenty of laughs – which we are used to, there were a lot of tears (which we are NOT used to!).

After the speeches, lots of guests headed over to us sobbing.

Not the reaction that we would hope to get when guests see us at the photo booth or Magic Mirror!

But we found out that the bride and groom were moving away to another country and their guests were absolutely devastated that they wouldn’t be able to see them so much.

Every wedding is so completely different and this particular one will always stay with me because we really felt the love in the room for the happily and newly married couple about to start their life together abroad. you couldn’t help but feel a bit sad too.

Now, a bit about our photo booths at Huntsham Court… our stylish black or white wedding photo booths have been the popular choice at Huntsham Court as with many local stylish events that we attend in Devon.

Our speciality is our indoor vw style booth with fabulous Green Screen Extreme but if preferred are also compatible to go plain but stylish with a white or black backdrop.

Brides, grooms and their guests often love nothing better than to crank up a notch their photo booth experience with choices of green screen backdrops. Look at the screen and Las Vegas will appear or a heart or a rustic brick wall and any second now will print out too!

We tailor our booths to suit all our events.

Our booths come in white wedding white (which looks amazing next to the wood panelling at Huntsham), midnight black, white, duck egg blue and lime green vintage vw camper style. We additionally offer a personalised guestbook and heart boards.

The preferred location for the photo booth or the Magic Mirror is to the right of the main entrance way (as in the photo – where the sofa is) to the side of the staircase. A perfect self contained space and separate area to the dancing room. 🙂 Here people can find you very easily and nip in for a quick fun photo to add to your guest book.

If you would like to get married Downton Abbey style and are planning to have your wedding at Huntsham Court, we’d love you to consider inviting us along too.

We are a family company that has been running for over 6 years and we are a photo booth company that is local to the Huntsham Court/ Tiverton/ Exeter region.

To check our availability for our range of photo booth, magic mirrors and selfie wizards, please visit or call our team on 0800 7720325. We hope to speak to you soon.

Lewtrenchard Manor – for a West Devon wedding to remember!

Lewtrenchard Manor is a great big sprawling 16th century manor house situated in the beautiful rolling hills of West Devon on the edge of local tourist attraction Dartmoor. This beautiful wedding venue truly gives Downton Abbey a run for it’s money in terms of heritage, style and charisma.

And brides and grooms to be, the Manor can be your’s for your BIG day!

Lewtrenchard has a great reputation for many reasons, namely for the weddings that it hosts, it’s fine dining events, for the stunning gardens that surround the Manor and for being located in the lush West Devon countryside that we are close to at Yellowbooth HQ.

Stepping foot inside the entrance hall feels like stepping back in time. Instantly you feel this is the place that you definitely want to be in and where you can imagine your wedding taking place. Lewtrenchard with it’s history and its charm will enchant you and your wedding guests. And there is an ample courtyard packed with historic charisma and beautiful fresh air to drink in alongside your gin and tonic.

The manor offers modestly sized rooms that are ideal for a variety of functions with an upstairs wedding ceremony room where you will be surrounded by the ornate finery of the historic building and the grand portraits hanging on the walls. There is additionally an outdoors wedding arch that is the perfect spot for a wedding – the guests are seated in the courtyard with a good view of the proceedings.

The house can accommodate a wedding party of up to 78 inside the house but for weddings with guest numbers over and above that, a marquee can be erected on the grounds.

There is a large party room complete with a yummy chandelier and tall ceilings and a comfortable separate bar room.

All about the house there are corners to retire to for those quiet moments – perfect for those older members of the wedding party – many of which are close to a welcoming  fireplace.

To conclude, Lewtrenchard Manor, in my humble opinion could rival Downton Abbey in terms of its history (it’s even a few hundred years older!) and character and the perfect location to book for your wedding!

When you do visit Lewtrenchard Manor and fall hopelessly in love with it (as I guarantee that you will) and decide to get married here, please do consider inviting us along too. 🙂

Our white wedding photo booth looks perfect in whichever corner you’d like it!

One more contender for the title of “South West Wedding Venue in the style of Downton Abbey” is Hotel Endsleigh near Tavistock in Devon.

How we fell in love with a local venue and what’s on offer here!

Wedding glamour at Coombe Lodge

We have attended hundreds and hundreds of weddings across the South West and are happy to share our knowledge and opinions of the huge range of venues – from the very cute petite to the most wondrous of locations.

If  you are planning for your lovely big day and you want to do your wedding day in style here are some of our observations of Coombe Lodge in Blagdon near Bristol.

Drum roll! Are you looking for a wedding to RIVAL the SOPHISTICATION of the glorious Downton Abbey (in real life it’s Highclere Castle  ) in Berkshire.

Then we might have the answer for you! The Comfortable, Chic, Charismatic Coombe Lodge.

Having attending numerous weddings at this venue, we can wholeheartedly recommend that you look no further than one of our FAVOURITE country houses in the South West, beautiful, glamorous Coombe Lodge!

The Lodge, built in 1928, sits in 12 vast acres of beautiful Somerset scenery offering the most gorgeous of backdrops for those stunning wedding photographs!

Remember during the opening sequences of Downton Abbey – the movie, those sweeping views of the countryside and the last part of the journey as you spot the house and then approach the front doors – you’ll get all this (and more) from your arrival at Coombe Lodge!

Imagine the looks on the faces of your guests as they arrive at your wedding ceremony. What a ‘WOW MOMENT’ that would be!

The wedding ceremony, depending on the weather can be inside in such a grand setting or outside with those gigantic views. But of course the eyes of your guests will only be on you when you arrive!

With 12 guest rooms here at Coombe Lodge, your nearest and dearest will settle in and enjoy the sumptuous luxury of these grand surroundings.

The wedding suite is of course the nicest room in the collection of guest rooms offering gorgeous views across the grounds that would feature in your wedding photograph portfolio. Remember to capture what has become the iconic moment when you are both in the bath – IN CLOTHES – of course!

The evening reception is largely based in the wedding breakfast room.

Plenty of room for a minimum of 50 guests and perfect for an evening party with plenty of space for a live band or DJ.

Guests who prefer conversation can adjourn to any of the lounge areas close by such as the piano room, the coffee room the bar or along the windowed corridor adjacent to the courtyard.

Our photo booths have been located both in the corridor underneath the big staircase as well as the comfy coffee lounge near the front doors – close to the dancing in both instances.

Under the stairs, when the booth draws its crowd, we can cause a bit of a bottle neck. It’s the walkway from the bar that the guests will gather so I would recommend having your photo booth set up to the rear of the coffee lounge. Here, there is plenty of room for fancy dress props, the guest book area and for guests to watch all the action taking place before having a go themselves!

If you’re booking a Magic Mirror, there is plenty of room here for this too.

Pic/ Our Green Screen photo booth is busy once more at Coombe Lodge.

We always enjoy revisiting Coombe Lodge and enjoying every wedding that we’ve been lucky to be booked for and are always surprised by how unique every wedding is. This is possibly because the Lodge offers a blank canvas with it’s grandeur is a stunning backdrop to inspire you. It has been our pleasure and privilege to be hired at all our weddings at Coombe Lodge and who knows, our next one might be your’s.
